Hello all - Merry Christmas!!

It really is a grat time of the year! I have the good fortune of getting extrat time with the family this time of the year, which is always nice.

For those of you who joined us at the Red and Green Scene Party - Thank You! The party was a resounding success. I hope you enjoyed the venue and the Mike Veal Band as well.

For January, we are going to do something different. We are goign to celebrate something we do well - Certification. We are going to recognize and display our Certification Teahers and committee and all of the good works they have done ove all of the years.

Bring a guest, too! It is a great oppertunity to show off our chapter to co-workers. We are goign to have Dale Smart present his company, Tremco, during our Technical Session, Our next Division Nights tabletop eventn and dinner with a panel discussion with Janet Diereks, Janice Wittschiebe, and Casey Robb and Certification recognition for several of our members.

Please join us on January 9th. I am very aware of the football game on later that evening. If everybody brings one guest, I promise to be done no later than 8:30pm. I want to get home to watch it too.

Online Tickets Sales Extended for Red and Green Scene Party

Hello,

We have extended purchasing online tickets until Tuesday evening, midnight, due to today's ticket sales - and with the hopes that everyone that wants a ticket will get a ticket.

Please take a moment to buy them for Thursday Night's party at www.csiatlanta.com. Also, if you are attending, please make sure to gather near the band around 8 pm so we can get a group picture of CSI members.

You should recieve a summary on a Thursday email-blast stating how to reprint tickets as you must have them for entry, a reminder to bring lots of toys for Toys-For-Tots, a suggestion to wear red or green to get an additional drink ticket and parking details.

Today is the last day to buy your Red and Green Scene Holiday Party tickets online. After that, they are only available at the door --- and the price goes up to $55/each ticket. Please take a moment to get you --- and all your friends --- tickets TODAY!

Opera is an excellent venue for a party. There will be lots of great people, food and beverages. Your entry ticket includes two drink tickets followed by a third ticket if you wear red or green!

CSI Atlanta is the host organization that is coordinating the Toys-For-Tots campaign. This year, toys are in shorter supply than demand so I encourage you to support giving toys or a monetary donation right now. If you are unable to attend and bring a toy - or simply want to make a cash donation for toys, you can do that through our website or by check. We will make sure to get any funds donated to the Marines.

Also, you can send a check to CSI Atlanta, PO Box 52678, Atlanta, GA 30355 made out to CSI Atlanta with a note on the memo line: Toys-For-Tots 2011.

Sponsorship Opportunities for CSI Atlanta

I am the immediate past president for CSI Atlanta and work on the chapter sponsorship opportunities. Have you considered being a CSI Atlanta chapter sponsor? The diffirent types can be found on the website at:

We haven't made this years sponsor banner but plan to do that over the holidays and it will be presented at our next meetings. As it is a new thing for us, we are going to include all our sponsor types for the first banner.

Also, all sponsorships to our multi-association holiday party called Red and Green Scene Holiday Party next week include a website banner ad at www.csiatlanta.org for the next year. The cut-off date for being included on the signage at the event is this Friday and everything can be done online at:

(As we are still looking for an editor for The Atlanta Format, our newsletter is limited to our email communication. We will now list our chapter sponsors on these e-blasts in lieu of the newsletter business card like the listing below.)

- a Bronze sponsorship for the Red and Green Scene Holiday Party (cost $500) including two tickets to the Holiday party next week ($80-$110) with signage and media blitz until the event with continued exposure during the Spring community outreach project with the Boys and Girls Club organization. CSI Atlanta has also sweetened the deal by adding a CSI Atlanta website banner ad with the support of the party.

Presidents Message - October 25, 2011

October has been a very active and busy month.

MetalCon was in town and put on a verty good show. Kenny McMann and hsi group ATAS International were there as one of the main sponsors along with several others from our group. Karen Fravert of Glidden stopped by the office and coordinated with me some potentially exciting Educational oppertunities for us going into next year. Keep your eyes open. Chip O'Rear has also been busy getting the kinks worked out of his Certification Program. All of those details are available on the website.

It is time to register for the November Meeting Events on the website as well. A presentation from ATAS on green metal roofs and wall systems will be the Technical Program. Our next Division Nights event will be part of the evening, highlighting Divisions 07, 13, and 48 from MasterFormat. Our dinner speaker will be Mr. Gary Summerlin from Hartsfield - Jackson Airport to discuss the International Terminal. Get signed up now and bring a guest. This is our last event before the holidays, so lets fill that room up!

Speaking of the Holidays, I hope you are keeping the date open fot the Red and Green Scene Holiday Party at Opera Nightclub. It is going to be a very engaging event and is very well organized. Please come!

Presidents Message October 10, 2011

Hello all!

I wanted to issue some announcements for our group. Some are repeats with updates from the last meeting and some are new.

Membership Recruitment and Retention

The institute has initiated a couple of programs to encourage new membres and support existing ones. For new members, there is the opportunity for our Atlanta Chapter to participate in a 50/50 recruitment program, where dues are reduced by 50%. This is something we might roll out after the first of the year. There is also a Buy-One-Give-One Campaign coming out in the next couple of weeks. This is something we can take advantage of now. We also now have an Institute liason to help us with local recruiting efforts and a provide guidance for a new 16 month retention program for both new and renewing members. Of course, the more important thing is the fact that we are in the market for a new Membership Chairperson. If you think this wants to be you, let me know.

Certification

Certification season is upon us and Chip O’Rear has done his usual outstanding coordination effort to set up the schedule and the location for training classes. The ten week program starts on January 17, 2012 and runs weekly at the office of Cooper Carry Architects. Be aware of an adminstrative change for the CCCA candidates registering for the Spring 2012 dates. CCCA candidates now will need two years of documented experience to be able to sit for the exam.

Region Conference

The Southeast Region Conference has been postponed for 2012. A regional Task Team has been formed to generate a new operating guide. This will allow the region leadership and the selected host chapter to rethink and coordinate what the Region Conference needs to be to best serve the membership at large. October Presidents Message

Hello [firstname],

I hope you were able to enjoy Emory Morsebergers talk last month. His comments were better recieved than he had anticipated.

What a busy month September has been. The big event was the Construct 2011 National Convention in Chicago Ill. It was a very informative and productive week amonst the speakers and CSI Leadership, including our own Casey Robb. Be sure to ask him about his presentation with Grady Whitaker. The learning oppertunities were pretty extensive and covered a wide range of topics, including Cameron Sinclair, the keynote speaker. You might find his organization Architecture for Humanity worth looking up if you are not familiar with them. It was also good for fellowship and catching up with old contacts. A hearty CSI Atlanta shout out to Chris Little with AMICO out of birmingham.

For those of you who follow twitter, our chapter is venturing into the world of social media. You can now follow us on Twitter: @atlchaptercsi.

We are still looking for sponsors for our chapter. If you are intrested in either doing an advrtising sponsorship or would like to sponsor a specific activity or event, let on of your board members know or call me directly at 678-618-8503.

Looking ahead, we have an absolutely stellar line up for monday nights meeting. The Tech session will feature Martha Smith and a discussion on Corian products. Division nights will focus on Divisions 5 and 6, but everyone is welcome. If you have a new product or recent project you would like to display, go ahead and get registered. We want to highlight your good work! The Dinner Presentation will be from the Atlanta Beltline and the great progress their organization is making towards their goals. Take a minute and get registered today!

Finally, let me extend a personal invitiation to all of you to sign up and bring a guest to dinner. It would be great if you could bring an emerging professional from your office or organization, but anyone intrested in what we do or how we do it is welcome. Emory Morsberger, a Gwinnett County developer, joins us for dinner to present the success stories of the Gwinnett Community Improvement Districts. In the economic stagnation of the day, this is a real success story that is only going to improve.

Community Improvement Districts

Gwinnett is home to four Community Improvement Districts, or CIDs. A CID is a self-taxing district that allows property owners to proactively address revitalization by investing in planning, studies, and real improvements. An elected board of directors manages the CID. Utilizing "seed" money from the taxes raised in the district, these CIDs attract money into the district from federal, state and local government sources to leverage projects and programs.

I hope you come to tonight's Awards Ceremony and Past Presidents Reception at Chequers Seafood Grill. (http://www.csiatlanta.org/en/cev/55)

Online registration is open until the event tonight. The price is $40/adult and $10/child. We will have a cocktail reception with refreshments. Everyone will get two beverage tickets and there will also be a cash bar available. You can pay online or bring a check to the dinner.

So, if you didn't pre-register, you can still come. We have spouses and a few children so please feel free to bring the family. (Brianna is eager to watch the little ones).

Along with the Awards Ceremony, we will be recognizing the new board with Brent Redmond as next year's Chapter President. We will award the Foundation scholarship(s). We will recognize Past Presidents.

Please join us for our final event of this year for the Awards Banquet at 7:00 - 8:30 pm on June 6, 2011 at Chequers Seafood Grill near Hammond Drive and Ashford Dunwoody. We will honor the volunteer service from this year and the new Board of Directors will be presented to the chapter for FY 2012. We want to congratulate and recognize our 2011 certification test takers. Along with that, student scholarships will be awarded from the CSI Atlanta Foundation presented by Dwight LeClair and Bill Ness. All Division Night Sponsors for this year will be recognized in print along with a special recognition and thank you for the ones attending the Awards Ceremony. There will also be a Past President Reception immediately before the event arranged by John Robinson.

As it is a reception, there will be heavy Hors D'oeuvres with 2 drink tickets including beer and wine. There will also be a cash bar available from the restaurant for any additional beverage requests.

A big "thank you" to our Sustaining Sponsor (Gold - CH Briggs). Please consider becoming a sponsor for this event and the upcoming year. More information can be found here. We will be making the Sustaining Sponsor Banner in late August and hope to have a wide variety of organizations supporting CSI Atlanta in the future.

Note: We hope you encourage your family members to come out. Children 12 and under will have a reduced rate of $10/each.

We hope you are able to pay online for this event as it is more difficult to collect money at the door of the restaurant. You may also mail payment to CSI Atlanta, c/o Marsha Moore Harding, P O Box 52678. You can also bring a check to the event.

As this is an offsite event, we need to be careful on the making sure we accurately plan for food and drink so please register early and attend as planned.
