Dennis Hertlein, Principal with Surber, Barber, Choate & Hertlein Architects, will conduct a presentation on one of Atlanta's most exciting adaptive re-use projects. Located in a prominent location on Atlanta’s Ponce de Leon Avenue, the Ponce City Market project is transforming Georgia’s largest building and surrounding site into a vibrant mixed-use activity center. Near four of Atlanta’s established neighborhoods, Virginia Highlands, Poncey Highlands, Inman Park, and the Old Fourth Ward, this project has preserved the historic features and character of the site while serving as a focus for the renewal of this district. At the core of the project is the two million square foot adaptive use of the 1926 Sears Roebuck and Company distribution center. This building accommodates a mix of residential units, retail space, and office space.
