She’s a Specifier, He’s a Product Rep: Different Roles, Same Goals
While specifiers don’t buy building products, their overall influence on a project is undeniable. This session explores the different perspectives of what product reps do right and wrong before, during and after a sales call, as recognized by an architectural specifier and an experienced rep. Discussion of specifications, sales practices, substitutions, social media, communication techniques and more will take place to improve the architectural sales call for both the specifier and the rep. This presentation is good for one AIA LU.

Cherise is a specification writer for LSW Architects in Portland, Oregon and Co-Founder of LetsFixConstruction.com. She has over 30 years experience in the Portland, Oregon Architectural/Engineering Design community including specifications, standards, business management, marketing, contract administration, quality control, project delivery education, speaking, blogging, social media and financial management. She is especially interested in helping young/emerging professionals take it to the next level and improving communication and coordination between the architect and consulting engineer for a better project outcome. Her current passion project is the co-founder of LetsFixConstruction.com, a website dedicated to bringing disciplines in the built environment together to find positive, collaborative and forward thinking solutions to the problems we face everyday in our work. She is actively involved at multiple levels of the Construction Specifications Institute including her current position as Director-at-Large on the Board.
Eric D. Lussier is a Specification Sales Representative for Precision Athletic Surfaces and Co-Founder of LetsFixConstruction.com, the mission of which is to better the construction industry by sharing knowledge and encouraging collaboration and open communication. He is also currently the President of the Vermont chapter of CSI. Specialties include branding and identity of the sports flooring market. He is adept at product demonstrations and is an AIA Continuing Education Instructor and Presenter for architects.
Having met through the Construction Specifications Institute and keeping in touch through social media, Cherise and Eric decided to do more than just gripe about issues plaguing the industry and created LetsFixConstruction.com on August 15, 2016.
